NASA – National Aeronautics and Space Administration is American agency responsible for space program. NASA was established in 1958. Now it made first test flight with its moon rocket. The prototype moon rocket took off on Wednesday; it was later than was planed because of bad weather. The rocket started in Florida where many people came to watch this success. 327-foot Ares IX rocket could be imagined as big white pencil. This time it did not carry any passenger or payload. The aim was to watch the start and observe if everything works. This testing flight cost 445 million dollars. NASA said that this is a huge step forward. It was first time in nearly 30 years that a! new rocket took off from Kennedy Space center. Ares is one of the tallest rockets, but the tallest was Saturn V with 363 feet. The whole flight lasted only two minutes. But it will take few months to analyze all data that were recorded by the sensors. After the start the parachutes were open and part of the rocket fell into Atlantic Ocean where ships waited. The upper parts of rocket fell uncontrolled into the Ocean and these parts will not be found. The whole process that was watched by many people took only six minutes. NASA is very optimistic and claims that Ares rocket will be able to carry the astronauts to International Space station in the year 2015. But the experts sent a report to president Barrack Obama where they said that this will be able later, in the year 2017. NASA managers expect to learn a lot from this testing flight and now they have a lot of work.
